With 20 DEG face hook, ply-veneers will crosscut with no bottom splinter at moderate feed rates. Double hard and 40% stronger C-4 carbide will give up to 300% longer life between sharpenings. Ends blade changing (one blade does rip, combo and crosscut). Ends second-step finishing. Ends cutting 1/16″ oversize to allow for resurfacing. A Heavy-Duty, Crosscutting Blade for Industrial Cabinetmakers
This blade’s alternate-top-bevel (ATB) configuration features teeth that face both left and right, and it delivers a 10-degree hook angle–a setup that’s ideal for the high-volume crosscutting work that takes place in the professional cabinetmaker’s shop.
It’s designed for optimal performance when crosscutting hard and soft woods, or plywood, and for use with materials that range from 1/2 to 2-3/4 inches thick–the materials a cabinetmaker uses most often. The blade can handle ripping wood or working with chipboard and laminate, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.126 kerf.

This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. The end result is faster cuts and up to 50-percent longer blade life than standard Sawzall blades. Another exceptional feature of the Ice Edge blades is the positive rake on the cutting edges. This design removes chips aggressively, while deeper gullets help keep the cut clear and cool to ensure optimal heat resistance.
Milwaukee’s cryogenic heat-treat process induces a permanent change in the microstructure of the high-speed steel cutting edge, and because it penetrates to the full depth of the blade, this treatment improves the hardness, wear-resistance, and dimensional stability of the blade.
Advantages over TiN (Titanium) Blades
- Cryogenic heat treatment offers a permanent change to blade properties: With TiN coating, the wear rate is accelerated by high temperatures generated during cutting. The Ice Edge blades are less susceptible to high-temperature damage than TiN blades.
- Ice Edge blades receive uniform treatment: TiN coatings are deposited by the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) method. PVD does not produce a strong bond with the HSS edge wire since PVD is a low-temperature process. Thus, TiN coating easily wears out. It is also difficult to get the uniform coating on the teeth with the PVD process–given the complexity and small size of the teeth–so the full benefit of the TiN coating is not realized on reciprocating blades. Unlike TiN coating processes, the Ice Edge blade treatment results in a uniform, permanent change to the entire blade structure.
